What are the percentage passing rate of the different Nursing Review Centers here in Manila, Philippines?
Philippines - 3 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
60 % without cheating and 97% with leakage
2 :
I know that the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) computes for the passing rate for each board exam of schools that offers the BS in Nursing degree. I think each review center computes their own passing rate per board exam. I doubt if a government agency consolidate this information. Have a nice day !
3 :
If you want the know what the nurses themselves are saying about the different review centers in Manila, check this forum. The actual passing rate may not be there but if you click on the different review centers mentioned, you'd get to their websites and that's where you'd find the %s. They advertise these rates in their respective sites. http://allnurses.com/forums/f235/recommended-review-center-141134.html Outside of Manila, this is what I found. The Nurse Care Review Center Philippines has four branches the Southern Philippines, namely; Cebu, Davao, Cagayan de Oro, and Zamboanga. They claim to have 95% passing rate.

Which is more advisable; to take up bs nursing here in the USA or go back to Manila and pursue it there
Which is more advisable; to take up bs nursing here in the USA or go back to Manila and pursue it there?
I am a US permanent resident from Manila. Im planning to study BS Nursing but im debating whether to just pursue it here(USA) or to go back to the Philippines and study there. Some say just take it up here in the US(kinda costly), others say to just go back and study in Manila considering that it's cheaper there. It's confusing me! What is the more advisable? Another thing is, if i plan to go back would I be better off applying for a reentry permit (valid bet 1-2 yrs)or is it okay if i just go back to the US every year and not get one.. Please HELP me! Advanced thanks :)

Hi! What university are you from? Here are the Nursing Review Centers I found lately: 1. RCAP (Review Center for Allied Professionals) - The review costs 9,500php and above. This comes with different review materials. Their office is in R. Papa Street and they only accept 150 reviewees per classroom. 2. Saint Louis - This review center is visible along EspaƱa road and the first section or batch of reviewees is closed for reservations. The second batch costs 12,000php and the third batch costs, 13,000php, which is in a higher price. The review starts at April 9 with up to 200 reviewees. 3. SEAMED - This review center, seeing the building, is obviously new. This originally caters to seamen worldwide, but since the nursing profession is in demand, they also have been servicing the nursing graduates for two years. The building looks very neat and organized, with computer facilities and has a three type schedule, in which you can choose from, 8-12,12-4,4-8pm. Their review costs around 10,500php with free snacks during the session. Furthermore, the 1st to 3rd placers will win a trip to HongKong and the 4th to 10th placers will have a free trip to Boracay. 4. Pentagon -This review center is located just in front of Saint Louis and costs 14,500php. A reservation fee of 1,000php is needed if you are interested with their syllabus. They only accept up to 300 reviewees. They hold their review sessions in different places like the PICC, UE Theater, Auditorium and etc.

there are already hundreds of nursing school in the philippines & sad to say that you cannot have any access to see their student lists online and even if you visit those schools personally. It's is very confidential here in the philippines.
2 :
there are PLENTY of colleges in Metro Manila alone, and since nursing is one of the famous college courses in the Philippines, almost all colleges are offering it! So your problem/query is really difficult. And no you cannot access the records online, no school has ever done this before, not only for its privacy but mainly because this is a very tedious process to do. If you are really looking for a particular person, i suggest you try searching through friendster, using SCHOOLS as the main common ground. but this is no guarantee that you will find the person you are looking for, but you may want to give it a try. to help you with the search, below is a list of colleges here in metro manila so you have something to start on. good luck! During my time (10 years ago), it was P400 per unit. A semester has 18 units on the average. I think I pay around P7k per semester. Since this is a long time ago, you have to inflate this. I heard it's now 1k per unit, though this is not verified.

A question about applying in UP regarding choice of courses
A question about applying in UP regarding choice of courses?
So I've heard a lot of people choosing less popular courses and then shifting... I want to go to UP Manila and as of now I want to put nursing and physical therapy on my 1st and 2nd choice of courses, but they're too popular. So is is safe to do this? I know you have to have a certain grade to be able to shift. Also, what's your thoughts on this (excerpt from http://upcat.up.edu.ph/ the "GENERAL INFORMATION" file): Qualifying for a Program Once you qualify to enter a campus, you are then screened for acceptance into one of the degree programs you chose. Different grade predictors are used for different programs. Campus qualifiers are ranked according to the degree program predictor. Top-ranking qualifiers are accepted according to the number of slots available for that program. If you make it to the quota for your first choice of course, you will no longer be screened for your second choice. If you donĆ¢€™t make it to your first choice of degree program, you will undergo the same screening process for your second choice. If you still do not make it, you will remain qualified for that campus but must then find a degree program that can accommodate you. Remember, you are an UPCAT qualifier; you only need to find a program that will accept you. The campus RegistrarĆ¢€™s Office will help you find that program. Qualification into UP is therefore a matter of qualifying for a campus, regardless of course choices. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ So.... is that choosing a less popular course first then shifting just a misconception or is it a safe thing to do? Thanks!!!

I think it depends on your score. You're right. less popular course, more chances to be accepted because only few take that course. I suggest you to take your course that you really like then if there's no more slot available, take the course that is less popular. At least you try.
2 :
no. I suggest you take the risk of choosing the program you intended to enroll. If you qualify for a campus but did not quality for the program, you will be asked to choose four(not sure) programs that still have available slots.

UP Campus change.
UP Campus change...............................?
I passed in UP Manila (which I chose because I went for a medical course) but wasn't able to pass the course due to the Nursing quota (meaning my result was "Degree Program with Available Slots") Now I'm thinking of looking for UP Diliman courses which have available slots. Is it allowed or not?
Higher Education (University +) - 1 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 It's gonna be difficult. You chose UP Manila as your first choice so getting to Diliman will be quiet tough. However, you could stay in Manila. After earning 30 units, that's when you could transfer to Diliman. Just make sure you'll get good grades (2.0 GWA would do) in your first year.

Nursing or Medicine for a US Citizen in College in the Philippines
Nursing or Medicine for a US Citizen in College in the Philippines?
I am a poor young married man from New York City, who is the only one in his immediate family who has ever finished college. I came to the Philippines to get another degree to support my sick wife and my brothers and sisters (abandoned by our parents). I send her money every month to support her. We have no children yet. I was attending University of San Carlos (USC) as an MBA (Master's Degree of Business Administration) student. Now I am planning to either study Medicine or Nursing (or Physical Therapy). It will take me 5 years to finish the Medical program and 4 or 5 years for the nursing program (regardless, my internship will be in the U.S. the final years). If I go back to New York City, there is not enough money to provide to have babies, medical insurance, and other stuff; although I make more than the average 20+ year old. I am already 27 years old. I have no parents to support me because I was abandoned by both at a young age. It is just me...here... Should I go into medicine to be a doctor or study nursing? I've always dreamed to be a doctor, but I keep hearing more HORROR stories of medical students from the US studying abroad than nursing students studying in the Philippines from the US. I also was thinking about just divorcing my wife and marrying a Filipina student or worker (preferably in the medical field) to work in the US and help us and their family back in their country as part of this plan. Nursing or Medicine? I think it is better to study both of these courses in Metro Manila, as I've been all over the Philippines traveling and visiting many colleges; Silliman University in Dumaguete City is an exception, and they now have a new Doctor of Medicine program that started in 2005. I have a degree in Business and Graphic design. Also, I will not run out of money staying here up to 8-10 years. I already am almost complete with my science requirements in the University of San Carlos, located in Cebu. I visited and have already been welcomed into a few med schools for 2010 who claim to help you do a clerkship in your last year of med school: UERM, Fatima (Metro Manila), Silliman (Dumaguete), Cebu Doctors' University (Cebu). Cebu Doctors' has U.S. linkage for physical therapy clerkship. US Clinical Experience in medicine is important since I only can work in the US and not this country, unless I get married to a Filipina. Nursing and physical therapy seem to be an easier option.

I'd like to say Nursing, because in the Philippines you have to have a pre-Med course before you can actually get into Medicine. Nursing is a pre-Med course, so if you graduate and decided to become a Doctor, you can still pursue it, or if you ran out of money, Nursing is a pretty high paying job in the US, you can work as a Nurse and save up to continue being a doctor. I am a Filipina living in the US, not a nurse but in a family with a lot of nurses.

Would it be beneficial if my siblings in Los Angeles will provide me with an affidavit of support from U.S.?
I would apply for a tourist visa here in Manila. I was wondering if I would be given an approval if I submit an affidavit of support authenticated by the US Embassy in Los Angeles? Supporting papers would include an invitation letter. I am working for the government (contractual). My status is single, and a degree in Nursing. Thank you so much for your answers! God bless!

No. YOU need to show your intent to return to your home country, including property, bank accounts, job, and family ties. If you're single, and particularly a single female, from the Philippines, you'll have a very hard time overcoming the presumption that you intend to stay in the U.S.
2 :
A Tourist VISA would not permit you to have a job in the U.S. In fact with a tourist visa, having a job would be a crime and you would be immediately deported. You need an H-1B Work Visa. The H-1B Visa enables professionals in "Specialty Occupations" to make a valuable contribution to the American economy. A maximum of 65,000 H-1B Visas are issued every year. The H-1B Visa is issued for up to three years but may be extended. This provides a maximum stay of six years. The H1-B Visa holder can apply for a Green Card if a company wants to sponsor his or her application. If you are working for the government, you should not have any trouble applying for and getting an H-1B Visa. If you are not a professional, and common labor, then you need to apply for H-2B Visa. The H-2B Work Visa was created to allow people to come to the United States temporarily, mainly for non-agricultural jobs, in which the United States workers are in short supply. Up to 66,000 H-2B Visas are issued every year. This year's annual quota has not yet been reached. Prospects are good that H-2B Visas will remain available in future years.
3 :
It is a common practice for relatives in the U.S. to assure the visa office that they will provide support to an applicant for a visitor visa. Your relatives could provide you with form I-134 or a letter stating that the will provide you with room & board and spending money, and you could present the form or the letter at your visa interview. One of the basic requirements for eligibility for a visitor visa is showing that arrangements have been made to cover all expenses. A statement to that effect could be included in their invitation letter or it could be a separate letter written to: "To Whom It May Concern" or "Visa Office, Manila" There is no U.S. embassy in Los Angeles. U.S. embassies are outside the U.S.

What are some schools that are really good to earn a BSN in the Philippines
What are some schools that are really good to earn a BSN in the Philippines?
I'm thinking of going to New Era University which is located in Manila to earn my BSN. I just wanna hear some opinions regarding that school whether it would be good for nursing. It's a religious school so I don't know if that will have an effect with earning the degree.

studying nursing in the philippines, did I make the right choice
studying nursing in the philippines, did I make the right choice?
ok so i decided to go to the philippines to study nursing. my demographics are: 18 years old, male, part filipino part chinese, speak about 3-4 languages, am a dual citizen for U.S. and philippines, and just transfered as being a 1st year in 2nd semester to a college in Davao city. i was born in quezon city, philippines, up in the north but my entire family is from the south in Davao City. the history was, after i graduated early from high school in california, i was very sure that i wouldnt be going to the philippines for college and made my way as a sophomore in college as my first year via AP and college courses from community college to San Francisco State University with my major as prenursing (i still had to apply for the nursing school). i had decent grades with a full load (19 units) on me at that time. but my parents really wanted me to go and study in the philippines along with my twin sister and my older sister because it was so much cheaper and my mom said that i can get my BS in nursing faster and if i wanted, i could even get my MSN there due to the economy going bad now especially when my dad will be laid off soon and my mom only working as a nurse. so after a period of being pressured so much i decided to follow their advise and i withdrew from my university wasting money (very expensive in san francisco) and my good grades. i never finished the first semester and immediately flew over to the philippines to begin the 2nd semester of my 1st year (i already had college classes that some got transfered over and recieved credit). Everyone in America says that getting into nursing school all over the country is hard to get into so thats why some of them go out of country to study and those that say studying in other countries such as india, nigeria, or other "poor 2nd world countries" wouldnt be credited to america since they are pretty biased, which is my guess since they havent even tried studying in another country and also shove the idea of education in america is so much better. but then if thats said, i ask myself why do we have people such as doctors with degrees from india and nurse practitioners with degrees from nigeria and eastern europe? i was postitive that it wouldnt happen to me yet i decided to play a gambling game to risk my future in going to the philippines to study. my mom says that it, the schools there, are all credited in america since she graduated from a college in Davao City with a major in nursing and is working as a nurse in america while all her kids are in the philippines. i still have yet to trust that statement but im still continuing my studies here no matter what. i promised myself that i wouldnt turn back, especially in my condition now and will just persevere through my studies here though lots of people envy and hate me for being from america and since im not of pure filipine origin by the looks that i get as a korean or a foreigner. lots of the people here are very judgemental and have a different psyche as compared to the north of the philippines, the south has a totally different environment and isnt really known well to many people outside the world since when they think of the philippines, Manila is ususally the first idea in their mind. many of the filipinos from the south dont even speak tagalog and will treat you different if you're from the north or if you're not white but of another asian origin, especially if you dont know how to speak cebuano. this is what i've experienced so far during my first few weeks of stay in the Davao. my question is, did i make the right choice in coming to study abroad and sacrificed so much such as my friends, my good life, and etc... to come to the philippines? my mom said that i made many sacrifices, and hell i even cried here, but nevertheless, in the future it will all be rewarded even better, i just need to make sure i go through tough times and perservere. its hard for me here because i chose not to go to prestigious and well known schools such as ateneo de davao or university of the philippines but i chose to go to a school where it is filled with transferees, drop outs, no foreingers except for me and my two siblings, and many of the people come from poor family backgrounds living in the dirt slums and provinces as far as the muslim lands. most of the dark skinned filipinos like to laugh and make fun of me bacause im chinese looking and always assume that im korean due to the fact that there are so many koreans and foreigners studying here for english and that i devote most of my time into studying, and when i make donations to the school, everyone assumes that i am immediately rich since i came from America which i am not and also because of the types of clothes that i wear. yet we all are nursing students who all want to work and live a better life abroad in the future and i also think to myself, how can they act that why when they live and work abroad? i doubt that they'll be successful since they all are just

You probably could have (as a US Citizen) done this just as cheaply and forgone your now having to take an NCLEX. THe only school in the Philippines that is recognized by ETS (The people who admininster AP tests in the US and graduate exams for universities) is the University of the Philippines. Nothing else. You could have finished Community College's nursing program and gotten established as a nurse. If your main question was "how can they act that why when they live and work abroad", the answer is simple. That is a fatal flaw in the character of the Filipino. THere are several stereotypes that fail to die among our people, and it usually indicates they're true - we love to sing (karaoke), we love drama (look at all the soaps on filipino television), etc.. On the flip side, we also like to gossip (such as in airing dirty laundry), and we suffer from Schadenfreude. That is, one filipino cannot stand to see another filipino more successful than they. Since you're in that country from what many of these poor people look at as "the promised land", you're going to get an expected level of scorn. Call it colleagial envy if you will. But ultimately, unless you fail miserably with the NCLEX, you'll be able to use your skills in nursing in the Philippines and practie your profession here.

19 units for a full load?! wow! back in the philippines mine was 30 units on average! anyway..... money-wise: YES practicality: YES Language: NO Crowd: NO in your case, sometimes, it depends School: not sure, you didn't mention the name of your school Education: not sure, you didn't mention the name of your school if your aiming for BSN, it's very practical to just get it in the Philippines because its cheaper for the same quality of education (assuming that you're in a good nursing school) you could get in an average nursing school in the US. However, there's so many sub-standard nursing schools sprouting like mushrooms in the philippines that you have to be cautious before enrolling yourself in. if you're in one of these schools, please find a better school; and with good high school grades or good current college grades, it should be easy to be admitted in a good nursing school as long as you have good entrance exam results as well. however, the best nursing schools in the philippines could also be discriminating to other nursing schools and may not accredit units from these schools. While it is true that US hospitals don't discriminate applicants based on what school they were in (as long as you meet the min req like passing the state board; and oh, yes they really don't, that's why there's so many foreign graduate nurses), it doesn't hurt to have the best education you could get. If you're planning to take MAN later on, it would be better to take it in the US. in my opinion, taking MAN without clinical experience and/or no exposure to the field is a definite no-no. your hospital training during your undergrad days just isn't enough, especially that nursing education in the philippines focuses more on the knowledge and concept and not on the hospital area. besides, only a few schools offer MAN where as there's so many in the US. if your going to take MAN, do it in the US while working. MAN classes have more flexible schedules in the US than in the Philippines. aside from that, you could earn more in the US. Why even work in the Philippines for just a wee fraction of what you could earn in the US? Unless you'd like to be one of those few filipino heroes who chose to work in the philippines. well, its your call. hmmm.... about the prejudice, i think you're being a little paranoid. there's so many east-asian looking filipinos out there. only the ignorant fools make fun of the unfamiliar. if you really couldn't handle it, you could transfer in a bigger city where there's less prejudice. if you can speak tagalog, you can transfer to manila. btw, you might have a very hard time on your community health nursing if you can't speak the vernacular language. if you could transfer to manila, there's lots of foreign students (esp chinese and koreans), fil-am (not necessay haffies), oh, and haffies too in some schools. not to mention having the same situation as you are in. some schools even offer special filipino classes for those who barely speak tagalog. for now, just ignore them. i'm sure you'll get used to it over time.

Nursing degree in Philippines
Nursing degree in Philippines?
I am graduating soon from my 2 years certificate in Nursing, I was wondering if I am eligible for any nursing school in Manila, Philippines? considering that I don't have any diploma..if i work for about a year in Singapore as an Enrolled/Assistant Nurse, am I eligible for entry? I'm keen to upgrade myself and be an RN. Many of the Philippines nurses here who come to Singapore have told me that nursing in Philippines is good, except for the salary. delive_rance I appreciate your reply but your comment about my nursing job isn't appreciated, since over here, its different. If you simply think of assistant nurses as 'janitress', you are not only offending me, but also offending other assistant nurses who have worked for 20-30 and still are satisfied with what you assumed,'janitress'. And, we are allowed to give injections, maybe not as much, as we also have a basic cardiac life support, just like RN's, our role might be different & less stressful but that doesn't give you the right to called it as a 'janitress'.

I think you must ask the college/university about that. Some schools acknowledges the units you earned while others do not. Good Luck... ^_^

Um , yeah Nursing in the PI was good . Some universities and colleges will most likely recognize it if your course in Singapore was ladderized . And if it is indeed ladderized , I recommend you the nursing of The University of The East Ramon Magsaysay Medical Center or UST . Just choose a nursing school with its own hospital . It sure is an advantage :-)

Nursing is a very noble profession and very much in demand. Many of the Philippine nurses are able to find jobs in the U.S. Even some Filipino Doctors who are unsuccessful in obtaining a medical license in their profession change to a nursing degree to increase their chances of being able to work here in America. Graduates of reputable nursing schools in the Philippines and there are many of them are well trained and in demand anywhere.
4 :
I presume you are going to graduate from a degree in nursing aide because it is only 2 years. Naturally you are eligible for any nursing school in Metro Manila. You will finish 3 more years to graduate to a BSN. Are you eligible for entry? Where in Singapore? Surely it depends on your employer if they need someone like you perhaps. Why not upgrade yourself first before you embarked on a quest for a job anywhere else in the world. As a nursing aide all you do is take out the patient stool or clean the hospital or ward or in short a janitress, they just sweeten the word NURSING on it, it is like a cake with almost nothing on it and doesn't taste too good but if you put on glitter and much funfare to the cake wouldn't you like to taste it naturally because you dress it up a little bit. Because you are not even license to use the syringe or inject them to patients. Yes that is quite true, the nursing schools in the Philippines are quite good and some are excellent in producing nursing graduates, some even top the board exams. And of course, the salary of a nurse in the Philippine is in a dismal state because the Philippines government have no funds to increase the basic salary of the nursing profession that is why more and more nursing graduates are going to the middle easter countries or other parts of the world or to the US to migrate and earn more than they should be earning.

Having a wedding & want family here on tourist visa
Having a wedding & want family here on tourist visa?
My fiancee is from the Philipines, she has lived here for almost 5 years and if we eren't getting married she would be taking her citizenship test next year. Our wedding is next June and she wants to bring her family here. Her parents are going to self-sponsor but I'm not to worried about them. They are older then 60, they both work and they own a house. The problem is, her brother who is 28 and her sister who is 24 are both looking for nursing jobs and would like to immigrate to the U.S. at some point in the future. Her sister just told her that she is too scared to apply because she doesn't want a "Denied" on her visa to mess up a chance at her getting a job. My fiancee was plannaing on sponsoring them and has already sent all the required documents, copies of the wedding invitation, and the recipts of the services we have booked (photographer, video, reception hall, etc...) We both really want her family to be at the wedding. What should I do??? I would really appreciate any advice.. Thanks!! I forgot to add that I am a US citizen.

There chances of getting a tourist visa are not that high nor the chance of any nurse visa .. they were stopped in 2006 ... and very few employers can now afford the H visa They do not need sponsoring for a tourist visa

This answer holds true for all members of your family. First, they must all have passports that are valid for a minimum of six months after their visit. Second, have them go to this webpage and read the instructions carefully, and then complete the DS-160 online. http://manila.usembassy.gov/wwwhniv1.html#Step1 As to the other issues, especially about living and working in the U.S., I suggest they take care of the trip for your wedding first and then begin to worry about the other. Also, and this is a major suggestion, do not postpone becoming a U.S. citizen. Do that as soon as you are qualified to do so and are eligible. You are better off changing the date of your wedding than postponing that. You cannot, however, apply (Form N-400) prior to the date at which you would be eligible. Plan on 45 to 60 days from the date of application until your civics exam and swearing in. Good luck with it.

I am a matchmaker and founded http://www.heartofasiaonline.com I have helped many thousands of Filipina - American couples find each other. When marriage results, my couples often ask advice on how to accomplish immigration, and reunite in the USA I see you already understand that visitor visas (tourist visas) are more likely to be granted when immigration fully expects the applicant to return to the Philippines. That is the case of the parents, they have jobs, property they are well established and thus most believable that they will want to return to the Philippines. So the question is, "if the siblings are denied when applying for the visitor visa will this hurt their chances for any other US visa's they apply for in the future?." A history of multiple visa applications, and denials is a red flag that will haunt those attempting to enter the USA. The question the consular officer will ask himself, is "what can I deduce is the real agenda of the applicant?" One tourist visa denial, especially one that had a clear cut legitimate reason, (attending the sisters wedding) should not adversely affect the applicant. A series of visa denials, tourist, work, student then tourist again would draw suspicion, ie this is an applicant that will try "anything" to get to USA. Congratulations on your upcoming marriage.

Congratulations on your upcoming marriage.

working in a hospital in japan help
working in a hospital in japan help?
Im studying my second year of japanese and i start nursing next fall. nursing takes 3 and a half to 4 years. in my second year japanese we're going over informals (conversations with friends) and stuff like that. anyways i'll be taking japanese the same 4 years i'll be in nursing so once i get my bachelors in japanese what would my chances be in getting a job in japan? should i go to small places like shodoshima or fukuoka so word would spread fast that im looking for a job in nursing? i know i have to take a seperate japanese standarized test but if im looking for a job in japan how do i go about looking for one? i'm part japanese but my dad never taught me anything about japan (not even language: even though he speaks fluently). So i need help on how the process of getting a job in japan works. its nursing or i change my course and become an english teacher in japan. but i really love nursing. teaching english is awsome too (my big brother does that in kyushuu), but i want to do nursings. so what websites do i search? becuase i cant find any good websites. usually when i search i find all these websites saying, "sign up with philippine nursing program to work in japan" and just most of the searches are for the philipines. but i dont live there. and i doubt that i can apply since i'm barely filipino.

>anyways i'll be taking japanese the same 4 years i'll be in nursing so once i get my bachelors in japanese what would my chances be in getting a job in japan? You can't work in Japan as a nurse without Japanese nurse license. And I think it will take another 3-4 years to get it because Japanese nurses attend a nursing school around 3 years. So you need to think how to get license first. >but if im looking for a job in japan how do i go about looking for one? There are many job websites for nurses like the below. https://kangonavi.jp/ >should i go to small places like shodoshima or fukuoka so word would spread fast that im looking for a job in nursing? There are fewer jobs in a small island. It's not a good idea.

First of all, you should know some information on Basic Nursing Education in Japan to give you an idea what are the requirements to get employed as nurse in Japan. There are several courses to be qualified as a registered nurse in Japan. The basic route would be to complete senior high school and study at a nursing university (4-year bachelor degree course), junior nursing college (3-year course) or nursing school (3-year course) before taking the national examination. A student who graduates from a nursing university is entitled to take the national examination for registered nurse, public health nurse or midwife (available only at the university which offers midwifery coureses). Nursing universities also offer a wide range of general education courses to allow broad areas of study. If you would like to work as nurse in Japan, you are required to obtain a qualification as a nurse under Japanese law. In order to obtain Japanese qualification as a nurse, you are needed to take the national examination for "Kangoshi(nurse)" given by Japanese and pass the examination. The Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare is governing agency of national examination in Japan. Under the current immigration law of Japan, aliens who passed the nursing board exam in Japan can remain in the country up to 7 years to undergo OJT. Japan-Philippines Economic Partnership Agreement (JPEPA) would allow 400 nurses and 600 caregivers to work in Japan for the next 2 years. Please also note that unlike the Ć¢€Åentertainer visaĆ¢€ to Japan, JPEPA does not allow recruitment agencies to send Filipino nurses/caregivers If you intend to apply for a nursing job in Japan, you could directly go to the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) after the ratification, not any recruitment agencies. If you want to apply for a caregiving job, go to the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), not any recruitment agencies. The Philippines nurse program is a new thing. They will be the first foreign nurses in Japan with a non-Japanese nurse's license. Everyone else need to take the Japanese national license exam. If you don't get your nurse education in Japan and don't have a personal history of going through the Japanese education system, you also have to pass the Japanese Language Proficiency Test Level 1 as part of the necessary paperwork to apply for the license exam. Considering the nurse shortage in Japan, I don't think you'll have a hard time getting a job if you get that far. Take a look at the exam questions from the past and see if they look like something you can take on. http://www.nurse-senka.com/kokushi_mondai/ Actually, this Nusre Senka website is a pretty good place to look for a nurse career in Japan. It's got job listings, articles, and career tips. Your first task might be to get good enough with Japanese to read this site.

Your best bet is to never go to the Philippines!! They are scammers and crooks and will take all your money!!!! DONT GO THERE!!!!!!
2 :
As an American, you will find difficulty finding a job, let alone a job with good wages (after all, that is a prime reason you're wanting to move to the Philippines, for it's low cost of living). You really need to do your research prior to moving there, you need to find out your visa requirements, how to maintain income to sustain your lifestyle, and most of all, to fulfill the needs of your child. Of course, everything you could need and want is in Manila, but at a premium. My advice is to go to the Philippines and explore a bit of the country, and sample the differences. There are many laws not in favor of foreign businesses, as the laws in the Philippines have a lot of sovereignty in it. The main source of your existence there will depend on the trust of the ones you will depend on there. Those who befriend you can genuinely take you where you want to go or take you for everything you have...as long as you don't fall prey to less than scrupulous individuals. I wish you all the best if you ultimately decide to make your move...might even bump into you in the future. The Philippines is an absolute paradise for foreigners and is a win-win situation for all, as long as you don't fall prey to less than scrupulous
3 :
People are overly hospitable to foreigners. You'll be fine here. Northern Islands are good. Avoid Southern Island -- too many muslims there. In Manila, you can get job easier than in any other provinces. (although the salary rate is way behind the salary rate in US). Government doesn't give support at all, so you have to spend your money on everything you need and want. (Insurance companies aren't that supportive too) Your kids will be fine in schools. There are International Schools and their qualities are qouted the best among all the schools. Business is also a great idea -- but be mindful about security, in any poor country like this, small scale business owners are very easy preys for those crooks out there. Crooks look at foreigners with dollar sign on the forehead. Stay in condo and always be visible to your friends. Friends can come handy during hard days.
4 :
There are very few jobs here for the locals, never mind us americans. Unless you posses some special skill and college degree there is very little chance of getting a working visa. You cannot work legally on a tourist visa. There is an old saying among us expats that live here. If you want to make a small fortune in the Philippines start by investing a very large one. If there were any "good business" to start up and make a decent peso I would have done so long ago. If you need to work to earn a living I could not imagine a worse place than here with skyhigh unemployment and low pay. The Philippines is a great place to live if you have an outside source of income like a retirement check or investment returns.
5 :
filipinos make less than $2 a day, college grads are lucky to make $300/month, qhich is considered a really great job. if you can do an online website type thing, have your own business, and earn US incomes, then it would be feasible to move. it is simply not feasible for an american to expect to get a job that earns US style wages, why would the employer hire 1 american instead of 10 filipinos? there are good private schools, that are expensive. you can get a maid and a YaYa, child care giver, very cheap, less than $50 a month each, full time, live in.
6 :
You cannot get a job here besides who would work for $5 or $6 (US) per day. You also cannot have a business here unless you have a Filipino partner that owns 51% of the business. BAD IDEA. Stay away from Mindanao area. House maids & house keeper are very cheap like $50 per mth. or less. I suggest checking "big jims philippines experience.com" for a look at the life & surroundings here.
7 :
If you can get a working permit, the only industries that you can be sure to hire you immediately would be the BPOs and Korean English tutorial companies. Starting salary for BPOs is generally from $300 to $500 (monthly) Korean companies (wherein you'll teach English to Koreans, whether personally or on-line) pay around $250 to new hires but they usually give premium to native English speakers, so you'd probably be offered $300 to $400 as your starting salary. A nanny costs around $50 to $80 a month.
8 :
BPOs (business process outsourcing) are all the rage these days and they keep hiring. Their clients include American firms. You need a working visa. Stay away from southern Philippines. Generally take care of your belongings (avoid petty thieves) when you are in public places, and as elders always say, don't talk to strangers. Live in safe locations, probably a condo with good security, or a gated townhouse complex or subdivision. You can hire personal nanny, tutors, maids, driver, but interview them well. Home schooling is a possibility though that takes a lot of dedication from parents. Private schools' quality of education is ok, and there are schools that are outstanding. There are also some international schools.

America subsidizing abuse of our elderly
America subsidizing abuse of our elderly?
America provides incentives to Filipino nurses to come to America and make money. Often I have seen that the Filipino nurses especially the males are callous, uncaring, and corrupt. They don't give ordered treatments and medicines. They laugh at dumb Americans for giving them these high paying licensed and registered nurse jobs. Additionally they steal from thier employers by using unnecessary overtime. Why can't America train its people for these high paying jobs? In America felons can't be nurses, but we let these foreign workers in with no credible or valid background checks. We don't know what kind of violence or corruption they have experienced in their lives. In the Philipines anyone can be paid off. At least an American with a non-violent record might have compassion for our elderly population who built this country!

You are being very racist. I am a nurse and work with other nurses from all over and have never seen them abusing their clients.

America provides incentives to Filipino nurses to come to America and make money What incentives do we provide? The rest of your "question" seems to be just a bigoted rant. Do you have any empirical data that suggests those of Philippine heritage are more likely to abuse senior citizens? There are good and bad people of every race in every profession. I would suggest you work on improving the system to weed out all bad apples and not stereotype based on race. If you had a bad experience with a person of Philippine descent, that is awful. That doesn't make all Philippines bad nurses.

this is a big blog of racism.. you cant generalize and blame filipinos for this.. if americans are poviding this incentives is because obviously they are in high demand and ..americans are not applying for it.. not every1 is meant/shaped/or has the ability to be a nurse.. I sure hope you are not a nurse .. because with this comment it shows you have no feelings... Every1 comes here to make a living,,, I am not making excuses for the abuse, if that is the case then is something that should be presented to Social services..etc.. but come on ... Really analyze your questions..?

What's your take on US banning nurses from the Philipines
What's your take on US banning nurses from the Philipines.?
Dave C. called me on this so hears the article. It's a bit old so there might be some changes to it. Philippines to appeal US nurse ban Fri Feb 16, 11:34 PM ET MANILA (AFP) - The Philippine government is to appeal a move by the US to ban some 17,000 nurses who passed the 2006 nursing examination amid allegations of mass cheating. ADVERTISEMENT The United States Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools (CGFNS) issued the temporary ban this week insisting that Filipino nurses retake sections of the 2006 examination where mass cheating took place. President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo on Friday ordered Labor Secretary Arturo Brion to appeal the decision. The order comes after a nursing review centre disclosed it had leaked answers to some students who took the examinations. The scandal rocked the country's medical profession and cast a shadow over the quality of its nurses, who are in high demand overseas, especially in the United States, Europe and the Middle East I like to say most Philipino's working in Hospitals did pass fair and square. I don't want people to freak out. In the past those who cheated eventually gets fired, but with the nursing shortage, hospitals are more likely to look away now. By teh way. One of the tricks used to cheat in board exam is to make fake ideas, and have some one qualified to take the exam for them.

LOL then we would ban half of our nurses cuz they are mostly Phillipinos, hey its true, then we are all going to die ahh!!!!
2 :
if they are cheating then they don't know what they are doing. i worked with a female who was born in the united states. when she was 2 months old her parents took her and her twin brother back to poland. she was not able to learn english. she went to nursing school in Poland. when they decided to come back to the states she tried the nursing field. she was told to learn english and they would give her a test. when i last saw her she had learned alot of english and still worked in a bindery. i guess she didn't cut the mustard when she took the test.

The Phiillipes is not unknown for selling fake college certs. There are even those who happen to have worked in drug stores or as hospital helpers claiming themselves to be qualified nurses. Phillipines is also infamous for Mail--Order Brides: http://www.afilipina.com/

YOU MIGHT TRY WORLDOFFILIPINAS.COM
2 :
If you mean you want someone who speaks their language, just contact visiting nurse agencies in your area, they should be listed under that heading in the phone book. Let them know that you're interested in someone who speaks that language. You can also try any Phillipino churches or social clubs and ask them to get the word out to their members and they may come up with someone who is a nurse's aid who can help them and speak their language.

there is PLENTYYYY of nursing jobs here in adelaide. i just dont know wether your degree is accepted here or not if not i think u just do a short course for it. but theres definitely plenty of nursing jobs here
2 :
Nurses are in such short supply, you should have no problem. Just do your research by asking a potential employer if you fully meet their standards of qualifications. Search for the city's (city of your choice) newspaper on-line and look at their ads. You'll most likely find e-mail addresses you can use to get specific answers from the people who really matter - the ones who would be hiring you.
3 :
G'day, Yes you can! The weblink below will tell you what you need to do. It is intended for British nurses, but the information is valid for yourself as well. Good luck and welcome to Australia :)

Hi: I am a nurse in the Philipines. How long would it take to get to Canada if I was offered a position there
Hi: I am a nurse in the Philipines. How long would it take to get to Canada if I was offered a position there?
The quickest route possible? Would it be the temporary worker program or the foreign worker program. Any idea? Thank

1 :
Check on air flight schedules for departing from your area to your stop in Canada. That should tell you the time it will land.
2 :
Best way is to go as a temporary worker. You can get a nurses license in BC. If you have a spouse and kids, you can take them too. Your spouse can get an open work permit. You can apply for permanent resident status through the provincial nominee program after you work for a few months. This page should be helpful to you: http://www.aved.gov.bc.ca/provincialnominee/strategicoccupations/healthprofessionals.htm
3 :
Nurses are in demand. Do you want to just work in canada and then go home, or do you want to emigrate. temporary worker will need a work permit - http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/work/index.asp If you stay in Canada and work for 3 to 5 years on a work permit, then you may be eligible to apply for PR - but it will NOT be just a few months. BUT if at any time you lose your job or your work permit is NOT renewed, then you MUST return to the Philippines. immigration will mean skilled worker category - http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/index.asp Under the skilled worker category it is currently taking about 5 years to process skilled workers applications. You have to stay in Philippines while this is being processed. http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/times/international/02a-skilled-fed.asp (scroll down to Manila)
