Many reasons for long processing time. Backlog, background checks, red tape. If they did not give you a time frame, you may inquire at their listed numbers. Try calling after the holy week.

What would be the cost of a hospital stay in Metro Manila Philippines? Would that be freaky expensive?
Got a girl friend bitten by the dengue mosquito and she is currently having a hospital bill that is absolutely unbelievable. Is Health care not easy to get in Philippines or any cares from doctors or nurses are just unfordable? I am about to send cash to help her out but I feel a trap but I cant check it out.What would you recommend?

What hospital? dengue fever can kill but treated with anti malaria drugs she will recover Very quickly. be careful "dengue" dengue is common in the general santos area and most filipinos are resistant.

It actually depends on which hospital she was confined in. The bill is also dependent on the degree (in terms of how early or late the virus was detected) of her illness. Health care is relatively easy to access in the Philippines especially in the city but again, the cost is highly dependent on whether she was admitted in a private, semi-private or public hospital. I wish your friend well.

Depending on which hospital she got admitted, it can be as expensive as a 3-star hotel, 5-star even. Medications for Dengue can be very expensive. You can request for laboratory results from the hospital if you need proof of her illness. The results are printed on the hospital's letterhead upon request. You can also request for receipts of the medication.

Freaky Expensive yes. I was hospitalized in Makati Med for a throat infection because I couldn't swallow anything so I have to be fed through dextrose and yucky jellies. I stayed 4 days in a SHARED WARD because the hospital was jampacked. For 4 days which was so boring, I paid more than 20k aside from the health benefits i get from SSS and Philhealth. Anyway, you can enrol her in a good private healthcare program. Comes out cheaper in the long run.

I got several patients before with DHF (usually are patients from Pediatrics (0-10 y.o.) then there are also adult patients. Dengue is a serious viral disease especially if it's a DHF (Dengue Hemmorhagic Fever) and on Stage 2-3. If not treated well right away it can cause more complications and worse is death. One of the medical management is a continues support of medications through intravenous fluids as prescribed by the doctor. If it's a severe stage the patient will have to undergo a BT (Blood transfusions). Yes, the medications can be expensive to very expensive in the Philippines. Try to ask for a copy of her hospital bills, laboratory results and medication prescriptions. <*-*>

My bf was hospitalised for 5 days in cebu doctors hospital.he spent 3 days in intensive care and 2 in a private room.His bill came to nearly 140,000 pesos.His blood group was rare(AB+) and in all he had 5 transfusions.I think this answers your question.Health care here is on a par with the best of the rest but is expensive.

Dengue fever can be fatal but it is highly curable when detected early. there's no specific medication for it because its viral and treatment is just symptomatic. meaning, doctors only treat the symptom seen, like if she's having fever then they'll treat her fever. something like that.

What do you mean send cash, feel trapped and check it out dahling? Is this one of those cyber love affairs? Don't send any money if your gut feels it dahling. It might be a ploy and if it isn't, she probably has people here to take care of her. Very crafty, usually they say their siblings or their parents are sick. Maybe she needs to tighten the noose a little bit because she feels your suspicions no? So she has to be the sick one. Think of it as this way, what if she hadn't met you and had gotten dengue dahling? She would still be confined and treated minus your contribution. And it is a contribution right? Don't tell me you are going to be suckered into paying for the whole thing hmmm?

She might have had herself admitted in one of the expensive hospitals in Metro Manila (Makati Medical Center, Asian Hospital, St Luke's, Cardinal Santos), if her hospital bill is astronomical. Since she got admitted, I would say that her Dengue fever is quite serious already. If she did get admitted in one of these hospitals, depending on the length of stay, you're probably looking at between $2000-$3000, or even more. If her condition is stable, she can opt to transfer to a government hospital (PGH, East Avenue Medical Center). These hospitals are equipped to hadle her case. You would probably only spend between $500 and a thousand dollars, or even less. If she's admitted in a private hospital in the province, it should still be a lot lesser than these expensive Metro Manila hospitals, but it can be a bit more expensive than government hospitals. Good luck, and before you send her the money, make sure first that she's not ripping you off.
