Nursing degree in Philippines?
I am graduating soon from my 2 years certificate in Nursing, I was wondering if I am eligible for any nursing school in Manila, Philippines? considering that I don't have any diploma..if i work for about a year in Singapore as an Enrolled/Assistant Nurse, am I eligible for entry? I'm keen to upgrade myself and be an RN. Many of the Philippines nurses here who come to Singapore have told me that nursing in Philippines is good, except for the salary. delive_rance I appreciate your reply but your comment about my nursing job isn't appreciated, since over here, its different. If you simply think of assistant nurses as 'janitress', you are not only offending me, but also offending other assistant nurses who have worked for 20-30 and still are satisfied with what you assumed,'janitress'. And, we are allowed to give injections, maybe not as much, as we also have a basic cardiac life support, just like RN's, our role might be different & less stressful but that doesn't give you the right to called it as a 'janitress'.

I think you must ask the college/university about that. Some schools acknowledges the units you earned while others do not. Good Luck... ^_^

Um , yeah Nursing in the PI was good . Some universities and colleges will most likely recognize it if your course in Singapore was ladderized . And if it is indeed ladderized , I recommend you the nursing of The University of The East Ramon Magsaysay Medical Center or UST . Just choose a nursing school with its own hospital . It sure is an advantage :-)

Nursing is a very noble profession and very much in demand. Many of the Philippine nurses are able to find jobs in the U.S. Even some Filipino Doctors who are unsuccessful in obtaining a medical license in their profession change to a nursing degree to increase their chances of being able to work here in America. Graduates of reputable nursing schools in the Philippines and there are many of them are well trained and in demand anywhere.

I presume you are going to graduate from a degree in nursing aide because it is only 2 years. Naturally you are eligible for any nursing school in Metro Manila. You will finish 3 more years to graduate to a BSN. Are you eligible for entry? Where in Singapore? Surely it depends on your employer if they need someone like you perhaps. Why not upgrade yourself first before you embarked on a quest for a job anywhere else in the world. As a nursing aide all you do is take out the patient stool or clean the hospital or ward or in short a janitress, they just sweeten the word NURSING on it, it is like a cake with almost nothing on it and doesn't taste too good but if you put on glitter and much funfare to the cake wouldn't you like to taste it naturally because you dress it up a little bit. Because you are not even license to use the syringe or inject them to patients. Yes that is quite true, the nursing schools in the Philippines are quite good and some are excellent in producing nursing graduates, some even top the board exams. And of course, the salary of a nurse in the Philippine is in a dismal state because the Philippines government have no funds to increase the basic salary of the nursing profession that is why more and more nursing graduates are going to the middle easter countries or other parts of the world or to the US to migrate and earn more than they should be earning.

Hi.. are you a newly-grad? St. Luke's Medical Center is hiring staff nurses to be assigned at their new hospital branch (under construction but will operate late this year) in Global City, Taguig. You have to pass resume, 1x1 ID pic and fill-up the personal data form. Submission of requirements is at St. Luke's Q.C. (main branch). Just go to the Cathedral Heights Bldg. at 16th floor (entrance is at the PET-Scan Center). Wear corporate attire. After that, you will be notified thru text/ e-mail of the schedule for the personal interview (nothing to worry about, not yet the 'clinical' exam). That's all I can think of as of now. Most known hospitals are closed for hiring staff nurses. I've heard also from a friend of mine about the hiring of military nurses (I'll just have to find the e-mail sent to me). Also, sign up at jobstreet.com. Some hire company/ clinic nurses there. You can e-mail me or I'll edit this tomorrow. Btw, I graduated 07. Goodluck to you. =) Edit: Some hospitals are really closed on hiring (East Ave, Rizal Med, Lourdes Hosp etc.). As a nurse, I can vouch for that because I've experienced it. Some just accept the requirements BUT in reality there are really no vacancies left. Not many staff nurses (already employed) go abroad. =) Jazz, I can't find the e-mail about the military nurses.. I'll just have my friend to send it again.

I think ALL hospitals continuously process the possible hiring of nurses. That is because a lot of their current nurses, having gained the experience, resign to work abroad. I think you should always send your application forms to these hospitals so you could, at the very least, be in their active file. I tell you that the chances of actually being hired is HIGH, because vacancies are forever being created through local nurses migrating to foreign shores.

Of course he has a different culture. Don't worry, i believed in the wife. He has more chances because he's from USA. Filipinos have high regard to Americans. Life style is very simple in the Philippines, no complications compare to richer countries
2 :
It is not in their best interest that he should work in the Philippines (money-wise). He should continue his job in the U.S. and only travel to the islands on weekends, or on more affordable periodic scheds. However, if he really cannot live a day without her, then I suggest for him to send his resumes to the American Embassy in Manila and see what they have to say.
3 :
An American working in Manila wont work out. If he has MBA let him work in USA. He can work only a few months to have enough money to last a year in Phils. Then go back and work again. They can make their money last. I know other Americans do the same way.
4 :
Sad to say that if the American finds a job in the Philippines, most likely, it won't pay as much as in the US. I think executive compensation (director level and up) in larger, multi-national companies starts around P100,000/month. That seems like a lot to us, but may not motivate the MBA grad from the US. One long shot would be for him to apply at companies in the US with operations in the Philippines. Then if there are openings in the Philippines for someone with his qualifications, he may have a chance of being transferred as an expat with a good compensation package.
